Grandma Agnes and the Dalai Lama

SPECIAL ALERT on TIBET! Support the Dalai Lama

Grandma Tsering respectfully requests that friends of the Grandmothers sign an urgent petition calling on the Chinese government to respect human rights in Tibet and enter into dialogue with the Dalai Lama. We don't usually post requests of this kind, but we feel that this is really important and we thought you might want to take action.

After nearly 50 years of Chinese rule, the Tibetans are sending out a global cry for change. Violence is spreading across Tibet and neighboring regions, and the Chinese regime is right now making a crucial choice between tougher crackdown or dialogue.

President Hu Jintao needs to hear that "Made in China" exports and the upcoming Olympics in Beijing will have the support of the world's people only if he chooses dialogue. But it will take an avalanche of global people power to get his attention.  Click below to sign the petition - the campaign is more than half way to the goal of 1 million signatures!

The Grandmothers Alliance Statement

WE, THE INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL OF THIRTEEN INDIGENOUS GRANDMOTHERS, represent a global alliance of prayer, education and healing for our Mother Earth, all Her inhabitants, all the children, and for the next seven generations to come. We are deeply concerned with the unprecedented destruction of our Mother Earth and the destruction of indigenous ways of life. We believe the teachings of our ancestors will light our way through an uncertain future. We look to further our vision through the realization of projects that protect our diverse cultures: lands, medicines, language and ceremonial ways of prayer and through projects that educate and nurture our children.
